Purim Party 2017

March 18, 2017: A festive time to reflect on how the LORD of Hosts fights for His people.  He becomes an enemy to our enemies, despite our shortcomings, failures, and tendency to wonder.  Yes, all things work together for good to those that put their confidence in the God of Abraham.  Like the wind, we don’t see it, but we see the evidence of its work and power.  God is active and quick to move mountains and transform hearts even in our day — although concealed in the Spirit — He is real and alive in our world today.  God’s will be done.

Dr. Alexander “Sasha” Bolotnikov revealed Beit Shalom Balevav’s new Megillah (a small scroll of Esther).  “Queen Esther’s Secrets” lectures were highly insightful and thought provoking.  Denise Rutledge praised the God of heaven for sending Gregory Arutunyan to fix a treasured violin that was damaged many years ago.  Denise shared how she now is better able to express her soul (and she does have a beautiful soul that needs to be shared and articulated).  Their music was a blessing (hear and see video below).  Gordon Rutledge opened his artist satchel and auctioned off some of his amazing water color paintings from Bella Coola, British Columbia.  All proceeds went to BSB’s homeless outreach.  Thank you Gordon for your humility and generosity.  Nini and Leila providing an entertaining puppet show.  And Sharon hosted a fun and educational “Jeopardy” game.  Thank you Nini for the word game and all who got to swing at the piñata before bursting with treats.  Gregory put a large gash in it, but Gordon finally broke it open.

Very educational.  Good times, friends, fellowship, and food.  Purim is also a time for service, charity, and blessing each other with gifts of food.
